Friday the 13th [Online]
Well, this game is pretty crappy, but it’s like watching a “so good it’s bad” movie. I remember a cousin had this game and we weren’t allowed to play it because it was scary. Looking back that was a blessing, because this games sucks so much!.
We played it anyways at a friend’s house, and i remember being very confused with the layout and objectives, but hey,...

Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion [Download]
Although i don’t celebrate Halloween, i know many of you do, so here’s a game fitting to the Halloween spirit. I loved this game as a kid, shooting the zombies is so satisfactory. I remember never making it pass level 3. Maybe i still can’t, but i’ll never know, because i couldn’t run it under Boxer. I hope you have more luck with DOSBox. Have fun and Happy...

Momiga [Online]
You want a true minimalist game?, well, here it is.
In momiga you have to move a square white dot to the right side of the screen with just the click(s) of your mouse or by pressing the space bar. Seems simple, right?. Well, each time the dot gets to the right side, it’s properties will change, so in one ocasion you’ll have to press the left mouse button repeated times, or press it,...

L'Abbaye des Morts [Download]
Another great game by Locomalito. In this retro ZX Spectrum-like platformer you play as a Cathar, trying to escape the evil hands of the Catholics.
You have to roam around a big place and find the blinking crosses while avoiding hazards, and be aware, everything kills you here!, even a drop of water, so watch out (the hearts are your lives, and you can find some scattered around).
The look is...

Sonic Fan Remix [Download]
In amidst of all new Sonic games, like Sonic 4 and Sonic Colors, a fan group has released a demo called Sonic Fan Remix.
This remix is even more true to his roots than Sonic 4. You don’t have the homing attack, and the music is remixes from old tunes, which is way better than the atrocious music of Sonic 4.
The game feels and looks really good, and you can tell the effort and attention...

Blosics 2 [Online]
Blosics it’s a very fun physics puzzle. Much like Angry Birds, you have to shoot a sphere to a tower of blocks and drop the green blocks. If you make the right amount of points, you move to the next stage.
You can choose between 4 sizes of spheres, from smallest to largest, and every one has it weight and density; but it comes with a cost, the larger the sphere, the more points it uses,...

Zombie Braker
Zombie Braker is a Breakout kind of game, with zombies (like almost anything these days).
The novelty element here is that the character moves forward and you control the movement with the mouse, and you shoot the sphere that bounces off zombies. You lose when there’s no more spheres, so take care of them and blast some zombies!.
This game was recommended by a friend of mine that draws...

Kirby's Adventure [Online]
I’ve been playing some Kirby’s Epic Yarn on the Wii, and boy is it adorable and fun.
That’s why today i bring to you one of the most fun, best looking games for the NES, Kirby’s Adventure.
A sequel of the original Kirby for the Game Boy, in this one Kirby gets its original color, and most revered ability, to swallow and copy the enemies attack power.
If you...

Jazz Jackrabbit [Download]
Did you know that CliffyB created this game?. It’s a mix between Rambo and Sonic, mostly Sonic, giving that it’s almost a rip-off.
I remember having fun with this game as a kid, but it hasn’t aged well. The controls are sloppy, Jazz moves too fast, and it screams for any originality. The most redeeming quality is the humour, like shooting “rabbits stinks” signs,...

Get Home [Online]
In this nice pixelated platformer you have to “get home” before the music ends. In your behalf there are potions that make you jump higher and others that make you run faster, so you can reach otherwise inaccessible areas.
I liked the concept and the passing of time, but i wish the controles where a little more wieldy. And yeah, the music is awesome!.

Thomas was alone [Online]
In this platformer you move blocks and get them to their white dotted destination. Things get tricky when you have to move 2, and later 3 blocks around, helping each other to get to their destination.
Each block differs in something, could it be height, weight, jump distance, etc.
The lack of music is dissapointing, and it really needs a reset button. But hey, it was made in a day, so...

Sand Trap [Online]
Another casual game for this week. In Sand Trap you have to fill a bucket with enoguh sand to advance to the next level, but it’s not as easy as it is on the beach. You have to rotate a square filled with spaces, blocks, labyrinths, and more stuff, in order to get the sand to move and drop it exactly on the bucket.
It may seem simple at first, but it has a nice difficulty curve, and...

World of Solitaire [Online]
Maybe you have an Apple machine like i do, and miss playing some good’ol solitaire that came bundled with Windows. Well, miss it no more!, here’s a pretty cool HTML 5 solitaire for you to enjoy.
There are plenty of options. You can change the background and even upload a photo of your choosing, change the decks of cards, toggle animations and autoplay, and much more.
I’m...

Time Fcuk [Online]
Time Fcuk is a pretty cool puzzle platformer, where you switch “planes” and try to get to a portal to advance to the next level. You can grab blocks to help you reach higher areas, and of course you have to avoid spikes and others hazards. It reminds me a lot of VVVVVV.
It’s got a interesting visual style, very raw but very fitting. The music is kind of repetitive and...

Double Dragon (NES) [Online]
Well, you can’t play 2 players in vNES, so let’s play some Double Dragon on the NES, which lacked the 2 player options (there is the VS option, but we all know it’s crap), but still it’s a great game.
I love the leveling system, the music, the graphics (the backgrounds are so charming) and the feel of this game; what i don’t love are the plataforming elements, but...

Digger [Download]
Did you know that this game is canadian?, well, you do now. Well, it’s basically a Dig Dug clone, but still it’s an entertaining game.
PS: if you have a PS3 you can buy an HD remake of this game.
Enjoy your weekend and get some sun.

Leap 4 Blue [Online]
Leap 4 Blue is a platformer where you make your own platforms, neat eh?. Like the name says, you have to leap in the green platforms until you reach the blue spot, and of course, the red squares kill you!.
I found the controllers a little clumsy, specially when you really need precision, but it has an interesting concept and the music is great.

Continuity [Online]
Contuinity is an award winning platformer which mixes platform with sliding puzzles.
It’s really a remarkable game. You control a character that can jump and you have to match the different pieces of the puzzle to be able to get the key and then get to the red door. The puzzles start simple but the difficulty increases with each stage, and in later stages you’ll be scratching your...

Canvas Rider [Online]
I love HTML 5 games that use the canvas element. In this game you play as the typical bike game riding different courses, and the interesting thing is that the tracks are designed by other players.
The graphics are really crude, and it’s not fun to press enter every time you die, but this is a good use of the canvas element and it’s a joy to play on tracks designed by fellow gamers....

The Majesty of Colors [Online]
In this point and click adventure you control a strange undersea creature which falls in love with the majesty of colors.
You can grab things, people, sharks, etc. And every choice you make has a different outcome. There are 5 endings, so this game should keep you busy for a while.
I loved the graphics and the writing, very clever game.

Chase Goose 2 [Online]
In this on rail platformer you play as a goose, that has to ve very obedient and press the exact key at the exact time to jump to the next building top.
It keeps you on your toes all the time, specially when you have to keep pressed the shift key and still have to press other keys.
Good fun though.

StarTropics [Online]
It’s a lazy and cloudy sunday here in Chile, so i think this game is the perfect fit for the day.
I’ve never gotten around playing much of this game, but it’s got this charm that i can’t deny, so today get’s a shot!.
So dust off your yo-yo and immerse yourself in this island adventure.
PS: i’ve always loved the cover art for this game, it makes you wanna be...

Alley Cat [Download]
Another game from my childhood, more specifically from my elementary school. We used to play this game a lot, and it was one of the best we had!.
I still remember the sound very vividly, and those strange-psychedelic apartments that you walked (or jumped) in.
All of course in the search of a girl (well, a girl cat).
Enjoy your weekend.

Try to Survive [Online]
In this tower defense game you have to killl everything on site with your turrets and eventuals upgrades. You can do research and upgrade almost everything, and also build new structures to your aid.
I wish there was more variety, all i did was kill horde after horde of enemies in the same place. At least there’s different enemies and the upgrades and buildings mix things up a bit.

Portal [Online]
This rendition of the fantastic 2007 game Portal is pretty good. You get all the Portal feeling with just your browser, a keyboard and a mouse.
The Portal concept is very well captivated here, with just a 2D plane and a portal gun you can do a lot.
Even if you’ve played it, it deserves a revisit, and even so while we wait for Portal 2.
Of course, the cake is a lie.

Realm of the Mad God [Online]
In this massive co-op RPG you choose a class and off you go!. You move around from a top down perspective (which you can rotate) with the keyboard and you shoot and point with the mouse.
A thing to notice is that death is permanent, no respawning or anything, when you die, you die. So watch out if you wanna keep those levels.
Spite of that, the game is pretty addictive and charming, and with...

Fancy Pants Adventures [Online]
In this floaty plataformer you play as ¿fancy pants?, or maybe McHammer with long hair.
The game it’s not too bad considering it came out in 2006. Like i mentioned, the controls are a bit too floaty, and the graphics are too “flashy” for their own sake, but it’s not a bad game, and when you get some momentum you’ll enjoy it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 [Online]
Ok, it’s not as good as the arcade version, but it was the best we could have at home in the 90’s, and i sure played the heck of out this game with a friend.
It’s a fun Sunday game to breeze through in an afternoon, and you gotta love those orange-blinking bosses.
PS: reading the vNES site i found out they’re coming up with a SNES site on early 2011. That’s great...

Stunts [Download]
One of the best racing games from the DOS era. This game was really fun, i remember spending hours drving the tracks aimessly and trying to crash the windmill so my car would flip up in the air like crazy.
The track editor is one of his best features and it’s really impressive for a game from 1990. It is robust and flexible, and one of the main selling points of the game.
There simply...

Open Red Alert [Download]
Open Source Command and Conquer: Red Alert, just great.
If you played a lot of this game like i did and have fond memories of those tiny little units, here’s the best way to enjoy it now.
You can choose between Red Alert and Command and Conquer.
Can you get into the servers? i couldn’t, but well, you can still play with some bots.
Go ahead and get the game for the OS of your...
